This is a great little scale that works well for the price and application ! The main issue with weighing fish in a rocking boat is the motion imparted to the fish by even the slightest wave action on the water plus the struggling of the fish itself. I use these scales to provide weights of fish I tag for the American Littoral Society. This scale has a “Hold” feature that helps with the motion issue and locks on a weight it believes is accurate. An H is displayed in the lower left hand corner of the scale window when Hold is achieved. While it would be difficult to confirm this lock or Hold weight in the boat, I have found that it is accurate to an ounce or two when I have performed simulation tests on dry land by raising and lower the scale with weight attached trying to recreate the up and down motion of the boat on the water. It is very accurate on land under static conditions. Haven’t found anything comparable with other portable field scales.
