They can connect to another player's answer each time they take a turn or students can race to get rid of all of their dominoes using their grammar skills before all other players.WHAT'S INCLUDED?22 grammar games22 grammar skillsanswer keys for every gameeasy to playeasy to differentiatemultiple ways to play22 GRAMMAR SKILLS INCLUDED: Abstract NounsAntonymsCapitalizationCommas in a ListComparative & Superlative AdjectivesCompound WordsContractionsCoordinating & Subordinating ConjunctionsFragment or Run On SentenceFrequently Confused WordsHomonymsHomophones and HomonymsHomophonesParts of SpeechProper Nouns and Common NounsPunctuation MarksSimiles and MetaphorsSynonyms and AntonymsSynonymsTheir, There & They’reTo, Too & TwoVerb TensesHOW TO PLAY DOMINOES:Step 1: Shuffle all dominoes and then lay them face down on the table. Each player should draw 8 dominoes and flip them over in front of themselves. Step 2: The first player places one of their dominoes on the table, with one end touching the middle of the playing area with a matching answer.Step 3: The next player must then try to place one of their dominoes so that it connects to one end of the domino already on the table, with the same answer on the connecting end.Step 4: If a player cannot make a move, they must skip their turn and draw another domino to add to their pile.Step 5: Play continues until one player runs out of dominoes.HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE:RACING:My students’ favorite way to play is with NO turns! Simply place a card in the middle and split up all the dominoes evenly amongst all players. When gameplay begins, students race to see who can place all of their dominoes on the board first. Students work off of other players' dominoes placed down to help get rid of their own dominoes. If students don’t see a way to place a domino on the board, they wait for other players to lay down more dominoes that they are able to connect to. This high-energy version of the game is sure to get your students excited and engaged.COLLABORATE:If you don’t want students to race, you could also have students put the dominoes together collaboratively. Give each team a set of dominoes and split them equally amongst all students in the team. Place a domino to start in the middle. Explain to the team that the goal is for all players to help build a large domino train with all questions connecting to answers in the shortest amount of time possible. When they finish the first round, have them play again and try to beat their first time. This collaborative approach fosters teamwork and communication skills while also providing an opportunity for students to practice critical thinking and problem-solving.All 1st grade domino games are aligned to common core standards and Texas TEKS.These Grammar Domino Games are great as third, fourth, or fifth grade reading activities, grades 3-5 grammar spiral review, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade grammar review, grammar games, grammar reading centers, partner activities, whole class games, independent language games, and more.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You May Also Like:Reading Room TransformationsReading Task CardsBuild It Games for Reading Comprehension Skills3rd Grade Multiple Choice Reading Comprehension Passages4th Grade Multiple Choice Reading Comprehension Passages------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Other Information:Follow me and be notified when new products are uploaded.
