Description A unique type of footwear from Japan – Jika Tabi Historically, split-toe shoes were made of leather thin enough to be worn like socks. Over time, changing fashion and new manufacturing technologies evolved this design into modern versions of Jika-Tabi. One such version is a cotton boot with a non-slip rubber sole, which is still widely used in Japan by gardeners and construction workers as standard work footwear. Although this seems contrary to how a work boot is perceived in the West (bulky, waterproof, stiff), the Japanese prefer comfort, flexibility, and a close connection to the ground. It is difficult to describe the sensation of walking in Jika-Tabi, but we promise they will be the most interesting (in a good way) shoes you have ever worn. Features: The main and immediately noticeable feature is the split between the big toe and the other toes (worn only with special Tabi socks). Extremely thin and flexible sole that does not restrict movement. Lightweight and compact: one pair weighs approximately 500 g Enhanced flexibility and grip: this comes not only from the thin sole – thanks to the split toe, the sole adapts to uneven surfaces even better Lightweight, but tough protective toecap from composite resin – especially loved by construction workers in Japan Made from cotton and high-quality vulcanized rubber. Fastened with traditional kohaze-style metal tabs (clasps). Multiple fastening positions for different ankle/calf sizes to ensure the best possible fit against the leg. Built for work and durability – this means additional reinforcements and stitching in key areas.
